that kernel is ... Special.  it requires that you shove a root
filesystem into it using mdsetimage(8).  as you will have the
luxury of 'as much space as you want' (with in reason), you
should go the 'GENERIC' kernel + miniroot filesystem method,
rather than the ramdisk-mdroot method.
