Okay, I give up.

With sources from 99/1/2, I have rebuilt libc, egcs, the kernel and pppd.
With a new kernel, my pppd keeps saying "modem hangup" about 3 seconds
after it connects. No core dump, and ktrace says "Resource not available"
after about the fourth read from the file descriptor (modem). pppd, of
course, set to demand mode, keeps redialing, reconnecting and redisconnecting.

This has actually been happening for about nine days now, so I figured I
was doing something out of order, or just wrong.

It _might_ be that I'm not rebuilding enough (pppd seems to use pcap, crypt
and util libs, I'll try rebuilding them), but I'm still kind of baffled.

Also: What does "CCP: timeout sending Config-Requests" mean, and I'm
getting "Received bad configure-nak/rej: 11 05 00 01 03" messages whenever
pppd connects?
