I don't know about the SS2, but I do know that the SS1+ "test-memory"
command is not very thorough.  I've got a known-broken SIMM that sails
right past the PROM memory tests (though SunOS picks it up pretty
promptly).  I've been considering trying to make NetBSD/sparc do
something sensible with memory errors on at least some machines....
