I'm trying to push one of "my" NetBSD/sparc machines to -current. The
source tree I'm working with was supped 1998-07-21 AM, and when I try
to boot the new kernel, it seems to go fine until late in the
autoconfig process, whereupon I see

kbd0 at zs1 channel 0
ms0 at zs1 channel 1
fdc0 at mainbus0 ioaddr 0xf7200000 ipl 11data fault: pc=0xf013f098 addr=0xffd18000 ser=80<INVAL>
panic: kernel fault
Stopped at _Debugger+0x4: jmpl [%o7 + 0x8], %g0
db>

I did a "trace" at the db> prompt and found the call chain went main,
cpu_startup, configure, config_rootfound, config_attach,
mainbus_attach, config_found_sm, config_attach, fdcattach_mainbus,
fdcattach, normal_mem_fault (no leading _), mem_access_fault.

The machine is a SPARCstation SLC, which has no floppy. Surely this
shouldn't be enough to cause the floppy driver probe to panic the
machine!

Did I just have the bad luck to pick an inconsistent snapshot to work
with, or is there something worse wrong? I can investigate further if
anyone would like to point me in any particular direction.

I'm currently building a kernel with no fdc or fd configured, to see if
that helps any.
