I've got a SPARCstation 1+ at home. Currently it's got 16 megs of RAM,
in the form of 16 one-meg SIMMs.

Under what circumstances can such a machine take 4-meg SIMMs? I seem
to recall seeing it said that it could be done, but don't recall ever
seeing the restrictions delineated. I've seen a "SPARCstation 1+
Installation Guide" (Sun PN 800-4784-10, rev A of 2 April 1990) that
describes how to install 1M SIMMs, including which slots they can go
into. But of 4M SIMMs it says only

In addition to the standard 1 megabyte SIMMs, 4 megabyte SIMMs
are also available. You can upgrade your SPARCstation 1+ with
4 megabyte SIMMs or combine 1 megabyte SIMMs with 4 megabyte
SIMMs. If you order 4 megabyte SIMMs from Sun Microsystems,
Inc., follow the installation instructions that come packaged
	with your 4 megabyte SIMMs.

This seems to confirm that it's possible, but is singularly
uninformative about details. Anyone know, or have a pointer to a
document that talks about it?
