Most Sony 2X CD-ROMs (predominantly the CDU-6001) will work with a SS2.  I
boot from one right here at home, and this CD drive was never meant to be in
a Sun.... :)

Whether Sony 1X or 3X+ CD-ROMs will work I do not know.
