Hi

For folks wishing to get NetBSD 1.3E (and/or -current) going on a
stock 1.3 NetBSD-sparc system, I'd just like to report that this
weekends tar-balls look like a very good starting point.

To get to 1.3E, I simply:

 1) built a new config
 2) compiled a new kernel
 3) rebooted with the new kernel
 4) re-built ld and friends
 5) "make build"
 6) fixed a few little hiccups in the "make build" process (i.e. ignored
a couple of warnings generated by the compiler, and compiled those
    files by hand)
 7) "make install"

While the new kernel has only been running for a few days, and the userland
is fresh as of last night, it has performed flawlessly to this point...
(all of the compiling was done over NFS to a Pentium box. The machine
itself is a 16MB Sparc 1+. For now I'm just using the old VM system.)

Kudo's to the NetBSD-sparc developers for a port well done...

Later...
