(Pre-analysis note: you _do_ have /emul/svr4/usr/lib/nss_*.so*, right?
These files don't start with `lib' so you may have forgotten them.)

Thse two files are unnecessary as the ones in / will be used by default and
should work.

Can you do a ktrace and see if the netscape binary actually tries to open
nsswitch.conf, and see if it successfully opens any of the nss_*.so*
libraries? This works for me properly, but there may be something hidden in
my SVR4 setup that I didn't catch.

On an unrelated note, if you have SunOS shared C library (you don't need X
libraries!), grab the version of Netscape for SunOS 4.1.x. It runs a little
more reliably in my experience, and comes deliberately compiled for NIS and
DNS. :)

Not for SunOS 5 (Solaris 2) it doesn't. He's using the Solaris version of
netscape under COMPAT_SVR4, not COMPAT_SUNOS.
