   Looked up at my Practical Peripherals 14.4 modem and found the TX and RX
   LEDs stuck on.  So it's probably safe to say that any time you see some
   "ipl c" interrupts, immediately suspect the serial ports ...

yup.  c == 12 == zs interrupt level.
