Hi,

i'm trying to install NetBSD 1.2.1 on a SparcStation 5, and it always fails
when newfs'ing the disk:

# newfs /dev/rsd1a
write error: 61559
wtfs: Undefined error: 0

interrestingly enough, the sd1a is 61559+1 sectors big. Disklabel seems to be
ok (tried partitioning with both NetBSD's disklabel and Solaris' format
command):

# disklabel sd1
# /dev/rsd1c
type: SCSI
disk: SCSI disk
label: -DRFSS2F-4B4B cy
flags:
bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 135
tracks/cylinder: 8
sectors/cylinder: 1080
cylinders: 4076
total sectors: 4402080
rpm: 7200
interleave: 1
trackskew: 0
cylinderskew: 0
headswitch: 0 # milliseconds
track-to-track seek: 0 # milliseconds
drivedata: 0

8 partitions:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
  a: 61560 0 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 0 - 274)
  b: 205200 277200 swap # (Cyl. 275 - 437)
  c: 4402080 0 unknown # (Cyl. 0 - 2035)
  g: 4135320 441504 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 438 - 2035)

The disk's recognized correctly:

# dmesg | grep sd1
sd1 at scsibus0 targ 4 lun 0: <, DFRSS2F, 4B4B> SCSI2 -/direct fixed
sd1: 2150MB, 4390 cyl, 8 head, 125 sec, 512 bytes/sec

What can i do? Is there some way to low-level format the drive under NetBSD?

Help!

	Hubert
