The sparc distribution had a subdirectory called extras:

nooksack[341]$ ls extras
README          install.sh      netbsd          upgrade.sh
install.md      install.sub     netbsd.GENERIC

It contains a 2 kernels (netbsd and netbsd.GENERIC) of which one
should get you up and running.  You can then build a custom 
kernel of your own if you need to.
