I have NetBSD v1.1/sparc installed on a Sun Sparc SLC with 16Mb RAM,
a 1 Gb disk and a Sun (well, actually an Archive) tape drive. The
tape works fine from a SunOS miniroot, but when I try to access it
from NetBSD, I get the following errors:

  st0(esp0:4:0): illegal request data: 00 00 00 00 00 00
  st0: cannot set selected mode
  7: unknown tape drive type

This particular ouput is from an 'mt stat' command, but attempts to
read a tape with tar result in similar messages.

When the system boots, it detects the tape drive properly and gets
the manufacturers string, etc.

If anyone knows what the problem is (or might be) I'd sure like to
hear about it.
