I believe that Greg had referred to the devisiveness that split the BSD
camps as a prime example of why it sucks.

"We've done this cool thing, here's why, and here's how you can implement
it if you want to", or "You have this problem due to 'x' that we don't
have because we did 'y'" are helpful and even most of the free UNIX developers
that suffer from LES (Large Ego Syndrome) won't get that offended with this
kind of approach, unless they also suffer from Not-Invented-Here syndrome,
and gives an tone for open discussion, rather than being seen as flame-bait.

"Your 'x' is broken. Ours isn't. You guys suck!", "We did 'x', it's
kik-rad, and you could never do that", both of which being variations
of "My penis is bigger than yours!"), or "If you don't do 'x', I'll
take my ball and go home" are all completely counter-productive to all
involved, and variations of themes that are heard over and over again.
We don't need them; all they accomplish is fostering enmity, which is
also something we don't need.

Bah!
