I just found another problem with the new si.c.  I haven't
done a backup in a month or so... so it's badly overdue.  I'm trying
to be good to the drive, do I did a 

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rst0 bs=10240

	which is something that I've done before --- but I'm trying to
find out if the tapes that I have are the right length.  Anyways, the
kernel responded with:

	I have been able to write block sizes larger than 512 (I know
they get broken up), and I usually do since it's more efficient.

	The tape drive in question is a Viper-150 (SCSI).
