If my Exabyte 8200 is like other 8200 machines, then, it does not disconnect during its
operations and things wait for it to complete.  I believe this tape drive
was an 8200 (until the 4MM switch?) was it not?

} If your tape drive is on the same SCSI controller, and doesn't disconnect 
} during the rewind, then, yes, the SCSI bus will come grinding to a halt.  
} Once the tape operation is complete, then the other SCSI devices will be 
} able to get at the SCSI bus again.
