I've got my hands on the Sun `writing device drivers`
documentation. This is SunOS 4.1.3 or 4.1.2 documentation. I'm
hoping that this is a suitable primer to read. I'm currently in
possession of a Sun4/260 and will be acquiring a Sun3/260 sometime in
the new year... and I'm running NetBSD on them.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to (with some help?) write a
driver for a multi-port serial card that I'm getting anong with any
other VME 'toys' that I stumble across.

I'd like to know if reading this tome will get me fairly close
to knowing what's in a NetBSD device driver. SunOS4.1.x is based on
BSD 4.2, right? What major changed have happend to bring us to 4.4?
The book also says that Device drivers often depend more on the bus
architecture than the particular kernel/OS. (I still have trouble
believing that VAX VMS and VAX BSD are going to end up havnig similar
device drivers.)

Dave.
