More on the boot failure.  I looked through the install messages and noticed
that the "/usr/mdec/binstall -v ffs /mnt" step failed at the end with:

installboot: /mnt/boot: must be on a UFS filesystem

Should the install.sh script create the root filesystem as UFS instead of
ffs?
