"larger than that."  8-)

I've tested a 9G disk on NetBSD/i386 (not mine; wah!), and most of the
SCSI code used by the sparc is shared with the i386 (and lots of other
ports).

The only potential problem is that the -current sparc SCSI driver is
"somewhat deficient" (read: buggy) in its handling of some SCSI-2
disks, and that may make disks unusable regardless of size.
