I'm running on an ELC also, and my numbers are also amazingly high.
(some lines artifically split for readability)
relayer 25# uname -a

NetBSD relayer.ithaca.com 1.0 NetBSD 1.0 (RELAYER) #2: Fri Jan 27 \
16:45:14 PST 1995 root@myname.my.domain:\
/usr/src/sys/arch/sparc/compile/RELAYER sparc

relayer 26# time sh -c 'echo "2^8192" | bc > /dev/null'
       78.35 real 77.46 user 0.27 sys

Of course, I am not running -current, I am running the original release
(unless someone's put up a newer binary kernel since the 1.0 release,
in which case I'll go "make world" and shut up now...).
