OK, I'll bite.  Why no kernel(s), Paul?  (Otherwise, multi gratzi (-: )

(Why am I asking?  I'm anxiously awaiting the day when I can convert ol'
 "isolar" here from SunOS 4.1.3 to a NetBSD/SPARC post-1.0 release, but I have
 been waiting until there is reasonably solid support for my Sony CDU-561
 SunCD+ CD-ROM drive and my Exabyte EXB-8500.  Bootable kernels - one with
 target 3 hardwired to sd0, the other generic - would be a Really Big Help.)

I'm hoping that if the "Can we make a build self-contained" discussion leads
to changes to "make" (and I guess "[gt]roff"?) I can risk building a -current
system at work, but I tend to be kinda nervous about it (as well as being
time-strapped), and I like the warm fuzzies of using snapshots built by people
smarter than me (-:
