something i've done with sparc's is boot a mini root, and
then use rcp to copy a `tar' (and rsh?  i forget) over,
and then you could do some magic with the
`rsh foo tar cf - | tar xf -' trick to untar the netbsd/sparc
tar files that reside on another machine..

i don't think this would be too hard.
