do you have a tcsh binary in there too?  this is one
thing that: under netbsd/sparc proper, dumps core with
an illegal instruction; and under a netbsd/sparc kernel
booted on a sunos system, also panics if run as root.

i haven't gotten 'round to compiling it native yet..
