Which again brings up the question, how is the replacement pmap code
coming along?  Anything we can do to help?

The current kernel is more or less useless for development work.
Apart from swap not working at all, you invariably get spurious
coredumps or reboots halfway into any larger compilation.  (I tried
Emacs today, and it couldn't even get through configure without
rebooting.)
