Audio on O2 (mavb driver)

Has anyone played with audio on the O2 and gotten good-quality audio?

I just dusted off my O2 and installed the latest -current snapshot and 
was thrilled to see audio supported, but the quality of the sounds 
produced is just awful... the sounds is scratchy and barely passes even 
for lo-fi.

I'd be happy to hear otherwise from people :)
