this method also worked for me,
but after get the pkgsrc tarball and tried to compile some ports,
the machine get frezed,

i think about a soft bug, due that in irix the CD drive do his work well

ive used a cisco db9-db9 cable and minicom from my ibook to do the
installation,
but your terminal are a lot more cool :)
