Update: after setting the dip switches on the GXT150 to 0111 (or 0110)
I get a blank green screen (Monitor is a run-of-the-mill Samsung
Syncmaster).
As for getting a SUN monitor, this is probably not going to happen.

I do not have an IBM keyboard, just some Cherry PC-keyboards.

According to this list it looks like if not all is bad:
key switch in "service" position
888 (all segments on)
several times 291 : IO planar test, floppy whirs
...
252: boot in service mode from IO planar device, floppy whirs
...
253: boot in service mode from SCSI-devices in IPL ROM list
...
243: boot in service mode from SCSI-devices in NVRAM list
...
262: no local keyboard was found, wait for keyboard on serial1
With the key switch in "normal" position it ends with alternating
between 223 and 229, ie. it tries to boot in normal mode from SCSI
devices in NVRAM list but fails.
All this seems to indicate I could boot this machine if I had install
media and this is what I am trying to find.
Thanks for all the comments,
