I have successfully booted the boot loader at long last, by linking the
way the linuxppc does with their ld.script.  I will put the loader I made
at http://www.drow.net/netbsd/newofwboot.xcf .  Source will follow once I
get it cleaned up a little.

Speaking of which, what about the copyright issues involved?  Even though
there is no notice in the ld.script I assume it is GNU copylefted.  We
can't just add that to our source tree.  Anyone want to write us a new
one?
