As Jason said, gcc3 is so aggressive on optimization.
Building kernel -O or -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing caused
different behavior.

At least, XdecNetBSD (I'm not sure where I got it from though)
works fine on HX (sfb). I'll try it on TX (tfb) later.
