Hi,

I had planned to upgrade our PMAX system to -current this
weekend, but it seems there is a problem running a -current
kernel together with a 1.6 userland. Has anyone been successful
in doing so?

I cross-compiled a -current (2003-09-27) PMAX kernel on an i386
system. I copied the resulting kernel onto the PMAX's root file
system, and rebooted. The kernel booted as expected, but once
the userland started going, programs segfaulted left, right, and
center. This behavior looked similary enough to what someone
reported on either port-i386 or current-users for the i386 port,
and the fix then were to include the 'COMPAT_16' option in the
config file. I did this, but the userland programs still
segfaulted with the new kernel. Did I pick a particularly bad
time to try this upgrade, or is the pmax port not fully up to
speed with regards to the signal changes in -current?
