Maybe I should just ask this persons when I got port-ofppc running on
the Motorola PowerStack II. This is my current main hacking project. And
there is a PDP-11/34A waiting for restauration...=20

Getting more speed is not my (only) motivation. I am working on a
"NetBSD Devive Driver Writing Guide". Up to now my one and only example
is a driver for the RX02 floppy disk interface. An other example showing
a NIC driver would be a valuable addition. Knowing myself, I need to
write a driver myself to understand what is going on. But if a DEFZA
driver is too complex, this my be no good example.=20
