Hi all,
after having completekly failed in gdm + gnome installation on a pmax =
platforn with NetBSD 1.5, I was wondering to turn to kde as an =
altenative.
Just before doing this, I've done a check on the required packages for =
both kde-1.1.2 and for gdm-2.0b4.
Here is the situation for kde-1.1.2 and NetBSD 1.5
This package requires the following package(s) to run:
Required Available on ftp.netbsd.org
------------- ---------------------------
Mesa>=3D3.2.1 --> Mesa-3.1.tgz
MesaLib-3.4.2 --> MesaLib-3.2.1.tgz
gdbm>=3D1.7.3 gdbm-1.8.0.tgz
glu-3.4.2 --> glu-3.2.1.tgz
glut-3.4.2 --> glut-3.2.1.tgz
jpeg-6b jpeg-6b.tgz
kdebase-1.1.2 kdebase-1.1.2
kdegames-1.1.2 kdegames-1.1.2
kdegraphics-1.1.2 kdegraphics-1.1.2
kdelibs-1.1.2 kdelibs-1.1.2
kdemultimedia-1.1.2 kdemultimedia-1.1.2
kdenetwork-1.1.2 kdenetwork-1.1.2
kdesupport-1.1.2 kdesupport-1.1.2
kdetoys-1.1.2 kdetoys-1.1.2
kdeutils-1.1.2 kdeutils-1.1.2
korganizer-1.1.2 korganizer-1.1.2.tgz
libungif-* libungif-4.1.0.tgz
ncurses>=3D4.2 ncurses-5.1.tgz
png>=3D1.0.11 --> png-1.0.8.tgz
qt1-1.44 qt1-1.44.tgz
qwspritefield-1.6 qwspritefield-1.6.tgz
rman-3.0.9 rman-3.0.9.tgz
tiff-* tiff-3.5.5.tgz
uulib>=3D0.5.13 uulib-0.5.13.tgz
xpm-3.4k xpm-3.4k.tgz
And here is the situation for gdm-2.0b4 and NetBSD 1.5
This package requires the following package(s) to run:
Required Available on ftp.netbsd.org
------------- ---------------------------
ORBit>=3D0.5.1 ORBit-0.5.3nb1.tgz
esound>=3D0.2.18 esound-0.2.19.tgz
gettext-lib>=3D0.10.35nb1 gettext-lib-0.10.35nb1.tgz
gindent-* gindent-2.2.5.tgz
glib>=3D1.2.8 glib-1.2.8.tgz
gnome-libs-* gnome-libs-1.2.3.tgz
gnome-libs>=3D1.2.1
gtk+>=3D1.2.8 gtk+-1.2.8.tgz
imlib>=3D1.9.8 imlib-1.9.8.1.tgz
jpeg-6b jpeg-6b.tgz
libaudiofile>=3D0.2.1 --> libaudiofile-0.1.9.tgz
libglade>=3D0.16 --> libglade-0.13.tgz
libungif>=3D4.1.0 libungif-4.1.0.tgz
libxml>=3D1.8.5 libxml-1.8.9.tgz
netpbm>=3D9.7 netpbm-9.7.tgz
png>=3D1.0.11 --> png-1.0.8.tgz
pth>=3D1.3.2 pth-1.3.7.tgz
tiff>=3D3.5.4 tiff-3.5.5.tgz
xpm-3.4k xpm-3.4k.tgz
There is an evident misalignement between the packages and the =
libraries, probably that's the reason why I couldn't get gdm running, =
nor gnome packages on my pmax.
I wonder if it would be the same with kde, given the packages situation.
Does anyone runs kde or gnome on pmax ?
Can anyone explain me this packages unalignement ?
Thanks in advance.
Franco.
