What happens if you hit Control-Alt-<X or Control-Alt-Return or
pressing 'Do' or Alt-Do. If either of the first two work (drops you to a
>> prompt or restarts the machine) and the second two do nothing (if the
second two were working, one of those should drop you into the debugger
with a 'ddb>' prompt or panic the machine) next time this happens, it's
probably due to an Access.Bus device problem. If none of those work, then
you are probably looking at a hardware problem.

If any of them work, I think the problem is caused by a system
PROM and keyboard related bug in which the keyboards NVRAM "forgets" what
address it has on the bus and re-initializes itself to the startup device
address (the bus-master ID), but since the PROM isn't active and the dtop
device driver doesn't support hot swapping or dynamic device
configuration, the device just sits at the startup ID waiting to be
configured. This could also be caused by the keyboard or mouse losing
power, so you might try re-plugging the connectors for the
keyboard/mouse/system unit a few times. Failing that, it could be a bad
cable.

Hope that is of some help, anyone who thinks this is bogus or
just plain wrong, let me know.
