Yeah, DEC probably had one large ASIC made to replace the two on the /240
and to do other stuff for the R4400, which is quite different, 64
Data/Address Lines (R4400) as a opposed to 32 Data/Address Lines (R3000).

I'm guessing bumping up a R3000 to a R4400 is not going to happen unless
some of the 32bit pin packaged R4600 can run only 32bit bus mode (which I
don't think it can)

Don't know, I WILL NOT advise.

Yeah, that's what got me to this point, I pulled out my /240 fired it up,
installed 1.5, brought it to work, nfs it to a pkgsrc I had on a machine and
spent a week compiling nedit (few hours), mozilla (2.5 days), icewm and
windowmaker (one evening) and the said to myself "hey, this is some slow
stuff!" Serriously I think it performs just fine, as long as your not
compling mozilla. BTW mozilla would run but never displayed a window! :-(

Yes, that's my impression.

Thanks!
