Both of these are correct.  Certainly the older RRD drives (I had an
RRD-42) aren't new enough to rip audio with.  I don't have a new SCSI
cd-rom around, but there's certainly nothing to suggest that a recent
kernel with MI SCSI couldn't rip audio.  Just don't be in a rush when
converting to mp3's :-)
