Yeah, now that I have opened the inner case and looked at the innards
of the PS, I could tell that the capacitators have gone - at least
there was some fluid leaking out of the 820µF ones, if not all three.
I suspect that means that they are out to meet their maker ;-{

Yupp, after I got the right tools, there wasn't a problem:

I had to remove the MB to get at the 7 screws holding the inner case
of the PS, three of them are right at the bottom of the case, on the
side of the fans, YMMV.

Yes, it's (or was?) a H7878-A in my 5k/240, too.
