Hi all,

After a fresh install of NetBSD 1.4.2 on a DECStation 5000/120 (2GB Seagate
HD, 20MB RAM), I am trying to install KDE as my window manager. After
fetching all the dependancies and starting to 'make install' for
/usr/pkgsrc/x11/kde metapackage, I get as far as
/usr/pkgsrc/graphics/kdegraphics, building the object file kfax.o before it
just hangs until you can see in the trace when I Ctrl-C'd to get out and
tried to make kdegraphics-1.1.2 seperately. And the same thing you see below
happens there as well.

gmake[3]: Leaving directory
'/usr/pkgsrc/graphics/kdegraphics/work/kdegraphics-1.1.2/kfax/docs'
gmake[3]: Entering directory
'/usr/pkgsrc/graphics/kdegraphics/work/kdegraphics-1.1.2/kfax'
g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I./libtiffax -I/usr/X11R6/qt1/include -I/u
sr/X11R6/include	-O2 -I/usr/pkg/include -I/usr/pkg/include -c kfax.cpp
^Cnietzsche# gmake[3]: ***[kfax.o] Interrupt
gmake[2]: *** [all-recursive] Interrupt
gmake[1]: *** [all-recursive] Interrupt
gmake: *** [all-recursive] Interrupt

nietzsche# cd /usr/pkgsrc/graphics/kdegraphics

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? What should I be doing?

By the way, would this system run KDE decently and still do other things?
What WM do people generally recommend to run on PMAX workstations?

Thanks in advance,
brad
