I use NetBSD i386 and Alpha and am breaking ground into the DECstation
arena.

I managed to get this CPU off Ebay for cheap ($31US).

I opened it up, the CPU board was slightly unseated, blew off the memory
chips (5 8Megs=40Megs)
and turned it on. Attached to the port label 3, I attached a terminal.
The cable was being used, activly, from a PC to a modem, so it's okay.
The terminal was being used on my phone system, so it should be okay. I
hooked up a diagnosics light block, and the light look okay.

Serial comm was my job for 3 years, I'm fairly sure I have it hooked up
right.

Nothing. Since I don't have the jack for the 15pin keyboard and I need
to get a cable for the video, this serial port is all that is hooked up.

I noticed the red diagnostics lights on the back, they go through there
dance and settle on
0011 1011 (0=off 1=on) looking directly at the back of the box, any clue?

The two green lights on the CPU board are on.

I even went as far as reset the NVROM as outlined in the FAQ.

am I missing something or am I screwed?

Maybe I got what I paid for...hope not.
