That sounds like a logical assessment.  If the bit pattern was processed
from the wrong end of the byte, I could see how that might affect the
rendition of the font.  I have not yet tried a color monitor on the
DS3100 box.  Would that be expected to work differently?

Since the machine is a boot server, the monitor output is not all that
important, but, would be nice to fix.  IFF it were a generic kernel,
I would assume I could build it on a DS5000 machine and ftp it over to
the DS3100 for testing?  Right now, vi is rather fun to try to interpret
on the dyslexic box.

But, I do like the high-resolution fonts.  They are nice to read on the
5000 boxes...
