If we get rid of old snapshots quickly, and the pay-by-byte mirrors
aren't updating frequently, it shouldn't affect them.  What's the point
of running a mirror with frequent updates unless you're expecting them.

There's also nothing stopping Skots from setting up his own sup / ftp
server if the bandwidth is available.
