I thought I had become an expert on netbooting Decstations, but
I can't seem now to get past the above error. I upgraded my Linux
machine, which had been my netbooting server, to 6.0, and things
seemed to stop working. I think there is something "advanced" about
the new knfsd, but it doesn't talk well to other Unices. I may go
back to 5.1, I don't know. But I decided to set up one of the Decstations
(5000/240) as the server, and now I've got everything installed according
to the instructions and my notes, but I don't get past mounting root.

I've got the client's mac address in /etc/ethers, and I have a bootptab
entry that's getting the kernel. However, all I've been able to get to
boot is an earlier "tiny.ecoff" that Simon had put together a while ago.
The large "install" kernel doesn't get across the wire. I've got the
/etc/exports file set up correctly, and the client is in hosts.allow

I remember getting this error in the past, but I can't remember what
I did to get over this hump.

Any ideas are appreciated,

Thanks,

Doug
