The "R>" prompt means that your machine's PROM has been password
protected. That's the reason none of the other commands work. Assuming
you don't know the password, this is what you will need to do:

Open the box. Find a two-pin jumper connector, at the extreme front left
corner of the main board, near the power supply connector. With the
machine off, jumper the pins. Turn the machine on, and wait for a console
prompt. Turn the machine off, and remove the jumper.

Thereafter, you should get a ">>" prompt, and the instructions others
have given should work.
