My helper (tomita, named after Japanese synthesizer guy!), is running
slackware linux.  I must recheck and see if the (r,w) option is correct 
or different for my version of linux - will mail back with the answer!
Using: /etc/exports

/export/pmax -maproot=0 pippin(r,w)
