Unfortunatly no ideas, but some more remarks, have no idea which side
causes troubles, indeed something is wrong, see also the thread 'NFS boot
problems'.

Here it is the other way using Linux ix86 as a server and NetBSD pmax on a
diskless DECstation 5000/25. The nfs and mount deamon run in user space
and are version 2.2. A df doesn't crash but e.g. changing password does
and I don't know which processes are running then, what calls are made.

What are the sources of mountd? Linux Debian 1.2 uses Olaf Kirch's.
Strange thing is that there are NetBSD version that boot nicely and there
are version that boot and on trying to mount / they reboot.
