   NetBSD 1.3 had a problem with ld.so. If that's your problem either: 
 Upgrade to 1.3.1 (recommended highly - half of the Xwindows binaries used
to crash, now they work right)
 Do './configure --without-gnu-malloc' on bash (I think that's the
command...) Then compile it.
