Charles' patches are roughly the same as mine. His diffs are better
on one or two points, I'll be using that in the package I am
creating. Making the package itself isn't actually that much work,
it just takes so damn long to compile everything and test if
the package is completely correct :)

It's be nice if the package worked on architectures other than the i386,
I hope you get it linking on the pmax. I could compile on sun3 (and
thus for other m68k architectures) and sparc as well, but I don't
even want to think about compiling on a 3/60 and a 4/110. Time for a
crosscompiler. 

Anyway, I did make the modifications necessary for some other architectures,
but I didn't test them. I suppose people will be trying that out
soon enough once there is a package.
