I've re-written the kernel code that finds out which device to use for
console I/O. In the process, the code that handles initialization of
the z8530 (scc) serial chip on ioasic machines got rewritten. 

In the near future I hope this will all get replaced with Jason's port
of the machine-independent "zs" 8530 driver.  That won't happen until
wscons supports TC framebuffers, though.
