While we're on this topic, here's something I'd really like to see:

There's got to be some sort of magic that the kernel uses to figure out if
it's running a NetBSD/pmax or an Ultrix binary.  Why can't we make file
understand this magic?  It would be really handy for me, at least, if I
could just sniff something with file and determine whether it's native or
emulated.
