Subject: more ldconfig hassles

This binutils stuff raises its ugly head again. The packages are
having a horrible time compiling:

/sbin/ldconfig -m /usr/X11R6/lib
       /sbin/ldconfig -l [-Dv] lib ...
       /sbin/ldconfig -p
*** Error code 128

They assume the ldconfig in the tree. I can't actually find where this
exists in the Makefiles to hack it.

Did any of the ld.so/ldconfig/ldd stuff get resolved? Getting shared
libraries to work anywhere other than /usr/lib or /usr/X11R6/lib is very
unreliable.

Greg
