I'm sure the result will be a good thing. But if I get any say (I'm
not sure I do, since Jason's doing the work ;) the first-stage
bootblock would still reside _entirely_ in the disklabel, and it would
read an ECOFF-format second-stage bootloader out of the filesystem.

It should be possible to use a single ECOFF image as both the
second-stage disk bootloader and the second-stage network bootloader,
and to update the second-stage loader without messing about with installboot.


And I wish I knew a Southern-hemisphere equivalent of `rototill', with
the correct connotation :)
