I have been attempting to install NetBSD on the machine for a while
(several months on-and-off as time permitted.) Remote booting seems the
best approach as trying to write a disklabel on other systems has not
been a terrific success.

The machine has a mouse which connects to a separate keyboard port, and
has no serial console... The machine started reporting this a few
months ago, it may be that the mouse is not plugged in properly, I will
try reseating the connection with the keyboard.

Thanks for the advice.
